Always Trying Members Visit Donald McCain Racing
A Wet but Wonderful Morning at Bankhouse
The British weather certainly did its best to test us, but even a day of almost non-stop rain couldn't dampen the spirits as Always Trying Racing members enjoyed a fantastic stable visit to Donald McCain Racing at Bankhouse.
For many of our newer members, this was their first opportunity to visit the yard, meet our horses and see them working on the famous Bankhouse gallops – and it proved to be a brilliant morning despite the weather!
Seeing Our Horses on the Gallops
One of the highlights of the visit was heading out to the gallops and watching the horses at work.
There is something very different about seeing a racehorse up close in training compared with watching from the grandstand on a race day. Members were able to see first-hand the work that goes into preparing these horses and just how impressive they are when exercising on the gallops.
Whiskeywealth certainly caught the eye.
He looked particularly fit and well, and it was great to see him working away after his summer break. He appears to have benefited enormously from his time off and is now building towards his return to the racecourse in October.
There were plenty of keen eyes on Faithful Guardian too, with members getting the opportunity to watch another of our Always Trying horses going through his work.
Seeing horses carrying our colours on a racecourse is always special, but being able to watch their preparation behind the scenes gives members a completely different perspective.
A Look Behind the Scenes
Members were also treated to a tour around the yard and had the opportunity to see some of the other horses currently in training at Bankhouse.
It provided a fascinating insight into the day-to-day running of one of Britain's leading National Hunt yards and the amount of work that takes place long before a horse ever arrives at the racecourse.
For some of our newer members in particular, it was their first experience of a professional racing yard and a chance to see a side of racing that isn't normally visible from the racecourse.
More Than Just Race Days
The rain might have been relentless, but the smiles certainly weren't!
Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time, and it was fantastic to see both new and existing members enjoying the morning together.
Days like this are a big part of what we want Always Trying Racing Syndicate to be about.
Of course, we all want winners and there is nothing quite like standing in the winner's enclosure together. But ownership is also about the journey, the experiences, meeting the horses, visiting the trainers and sharing those moments with fellow racing enthusiasts.
A huge thank you must go to Donald McCain and the entire team at Bankhouse for making us feel so welcome and giving our members another memorable experience.
And finally, thank you to every member who braved the weather and joined us.
The weather may have been against us, but it certainly didn't spoil the day!
